Project: Visual Tree Assessments to assist with allocating and managing budget for Stratford upon Avon’s largest natural asset.
Wharton Natural Adviser: Sam Hobson, Arboricultural Consultant
Scale of project:
A Health & Safety Visual Tree Assessment was undertaken across 81 sites of the Stratford-on-Avon District Council.
Deliverables:
Visual Tree Assessment (VTA)
Tree schedule
Tree Survey Plan
Letter based report
Overview:
Wharton assisted Stratford-on-Avon District Council in not only fulfilling their obligations to uphold a ‘duty of care’ to members of the public but to also allocate appropriate budget for continued tree maintenance works. Wharton carried out the surveys using computerised tree management system to record the data. All individual trees were visually assessed and groups/woodland areas were walked and mapped. A detailed tree management report and plan was prepared including an extensive tree schedule with an outline for re-inspection within 5 years.
This is now a live document and used in order to ensure suitable finances and budgets are in place annually to manage the largest natural asset that the Council owns.
Testimonial:
“Stratford-on-Avon District Council has had a contract with Wharton since 2014 to inspect, survey and carry out / recommend any remedial works for all of the Council’s trees across the district. They continue to give us an excellent and professional service and provide very good value for money. The team are easy to work with and are flexible to our requirements, offering a bespoke rather than off-the-shelf service. We have also found them to be very responsive to our requests for advice and technical arboricultural support." - Olly Scholefield, Stratford-on-Avon District Council
